Fascism – Concepts and Theories

Introduction

In view of the success – throughout Europe – of right-wing
populist and extremist parties and movements such as the Alternative
für Deutschland, the Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, the Front
National, or Jobbik as well as the conflict in the Ukraine and the
spread of IS terrorism, the term fascism has experienced a
renaissance. However, its use as a discursive weapon threatens to
blunt the concept's analytical incisiveness, a development that has
